They <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitfinex.com\/posts\/198\">paid back all their IOUs<\/a> by redeeming 100% of all BFX tokens.<\/p>\n<p>These BFX tokens were issued as a placeholder for Bitfinex account holders who received a haircut of 36% when <a href=\"https:\/\/howigrowmywealth.com\/bitfinex-status-update\/\">119,756 BTC was stolen from Bitfinex<\/a> on 2 August 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Back in January <a href=\"https:\/\/howigrowmywealth.com\/selling-bfx-tokens-recoup-losses-faster\/\">I sold my remaining BFX tokens<\/a> for .55 USD per token. If I had held onto them today I would have gotten 1 USD per token.<\/p>\n<p>With the benefit of hindsight that was not the best call.<\/p>\n<p>However, it&#8217;s pointless to evaluate a decision based on\u00a0information that wasn&#8217;t available at the time.
